Problems treated
The clinical focus includes basal cell carcinoma, cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and other malignant skin tumours that require surgical oncology input.
Assessment
Planning starts with confirmation of the diagnosis and evaluation of tumour site, size, depth, previous treatment, anatomical structures at risk and regional lymph nodes where relevant.
Principles of treatment
The aim is appropriate oncologic clearance while preserving function and appearance whenever this can be achieved safely. Complex sites may require staged margin assessment or reconstructive planning.
Multidisciplinary care
Selected cases may require input from pathology, radiology, clinical oncology, radiation oncology and reconstructive specialists.
